How To Fix Backup Error In Sage 50

Sage 50 Data backup involves storing files from your Sage 50 Accounts package held on your PC or Server and put them in another location. Backing up your Sage 50 data regularly is extremely important and easy to do. If your Sage 50 data becomes corrupt or your computer stops working you can recover your data easily. This can save you hours of work from re-entering lost information. When running a backup please check your data first to ensure you have no corruption or errors on your data.


Section I: Create a new company using the restored data

Open Sage but do not open a company
Select File, Restore, and then click Browse and navigate to the location of your backup
Click Backup, and then click Open
Click Next
Select Create a new company using the restored data, and then click Next
Select the files that are needed (only Company Data is required)
Click Next
Click Finish

Section II: Damaged Windows Components

Close Sage
Follow Article ID 11857: "SageReg.exe has stopped working" in the Related resources section
Open Sage and restore the backup following the steps in Section I above
If the error still occurs proceed to Section III

Section III: Repair Sage

Follow Article ID 10602: "How to run Repair" in the Related resources section
After Repair completes, reinstall the most recent service release; refer to Article ID 10170: "How to install updates" in the Related resources section for instructions
Open Sage
Restore the backup if the error still occurs when restoring to a new company, proceed to Section IV

Section IV: Damaged or incorrect files in Backup

If the error still occurs, it is likely there are damaged out-of-date, or non-Sage files present in the backup file
Contact Support at 1800-896-6931 to continue troubleshooting the issue

Section V: Change ptb to zip

Copy a back up to desktop
Rename .ptb to .zip
Move unzipped folder to data path
